Print Modernisation in ON Semiconductor
ON Semiconductor is an international company based on Phoenix in Arizona. It is among the leading producers of integrated circuits and discrete semiconductor components used in various electronic devices. Czech companies of the ON Semiconductor group are developing its activities in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm where they continue the more than 50-year tradition in electronics and link to their predecessors Tesla Rožnov (1949-1991), Tesla Sezam and Terosil. Modern integrated circuits are nowadays designed and made in companies SCG Czech Design Center and ON Semiconductor Czech Republic.
Situation
The ON Semiconductor company uses over one hundred network and local printers with an annual print volume of 1.8 million pages. Orders are received via fax lines. Colour print is decentralised, which entails high costs for maintenance and support of print devices. Print machines are being replaced within individual departments. Accounting of print costs is sophisticated indeed.
The long-term objective is an increase in the efficiency of the entire environment, reduction of small printers and moving of print as such to large-capacity devices.
Suggested Solution
A replacement of the entire print environment by 19 network printers and 11 multi-functional machines using the SafeQ print solution will make print administration easier. One print driver will be used for black and white and colour print; the default print is black and white print. Printing and copying is handled by YSoft SafeQ Terminal Professional print centers with a touchscreen and chip card reader.
The centralisation of the whole environment is provided by the SafeQ system. This system handled accounting automatically and improves, thanks to the follow-me function, the availability of heavy-load printers. Jobs are accounted to particular centers automatically upon printing the document. All data monitored is sent to per email on a regular basis.
Benefits
Use of a modern print solution helped reached the primary objective, i.e. increase in the efficiency of the entire print environment. Thanks to regular reporting and accounting of all services, the condition of printers can be monitored continuously and action taken promptly with each toner drops. On the whole, we managed to find space for further cost savings.
